[edit] General Questions
To start this off, I'd like to say, absolutely amazing job on the skin and I'm very impressed with it. I am a very experienced wiki editor whose home is here. I've been with that wiki since it's very start and have gained a lot of knowledge through that whole experience.
I recently got invited to RIFT beta and absolutely loved it. The first thing I looked for was a wiki to contribute to and that brought me here. I'd love to contribute to the wiki here and I know that I've barely scratched the surface of the game, but I feel that any contributions can help.
Basically, what do you want me to do here? I know the NDA was lifted recently and therefore the site is lacking an extreme amount of in-game information. RIFT is huge and just with what I've seen in the game, this wiki has the definite potential of being one of the largest around. How do you want me to go about putting together the pages? What I'm asking for here is a template of sorts. What should each page look like and what kind of information do you want on the wiki.
Thank you, --Potroast42 14:11, 30 December 2010 (CST)
- Hello and welcome! Nice to see others with wiki experience and thank you for the kind words as well. There is so much work to be done, especially due to the beta NDA being down as you said. A good place to start is Telarapedia:TODO, and then Category:Stubs and Special:WantedPages. We also need to start moving abilities to the template I started (can be seen on the Chloromancer abilities one), as it makes them easier to update. For the crafting ones I don't have templates on there yet, but there is a table being used. Template development is some other stuff to be done in the future.... Wooh, did I type enough? Thanks again! --Ciovala Talk 14:37, 30 December 2010 (CST)
[edit] Cooldown
Hi Ciovala,
I'm excited to be contributing. I have a good feeling about this game and the people involved. On to the point of this message...
while editing the cleric soul tree abilities of the Warden, I noticed that Cooldown did not have its own column. I'm an avid player and pvp'er, and this stat is very important to me when evaluating power sets. I'd like to try adding a Cooldown column for the Warden. If that works ok, I'll do it for the rest of the soul trees I contribute to.
I know the #1 rule is Be Bold, but I thought I would check with you on this one before proceeding.

- Hi there! As I mentioned on the official forum, feel free to add that column, or if people have time (and this needs to be done some day), redo the page using a one of the templates from the ability template category (Category:Ability_templates).--Ciovala Talk 21:15, 2 January 2011 (CST)
[edit] References for de facto issues
I am planning to update quite a few pages over the next days so I have a general question:
Can we ommit citing sources where the information is taken directly from the (Beta) gameplay?
Because as it stands many facts which can be checked easily while playing have citations to prove them. As there is a huge amount of content missing, citing a source for every change would be more than annoying --4ndreas 02:56, 3 January 2011 (CST)
- Just use your best judgement here. If it's something that is important and changes a lot (like the abilities pages) then it's best to try and reference the source. The same thing goes when it's a huge bunch of text of exposition or something (check the vigil pages for what I did there). Perhaps we could just edit the beta template since it's a bit fugly and use it on pages? We need some way of making it known that information came from beta so it can be double checked once the game is out and updated... Oh, and thanks for all the hard work! --Ciovala Talk 05:26, 3 January 2011 (CST)
- Using the beta teplate seems like a good idea. And while I'm not soo good at creating wiki styles and templates (yet) I suggest adding a template parameter to indicate the Beta number on which the information is based, that way one can see if the page needs to be updated at a glance instead of having to check on which beta number it is based. And thanks for the warm welcome, I am looking forward to contributing a lot more and I hope that I get into Beta 4 =) --4ndreas 05:57, 3 January 2011 (CST)
- I would do that but I'm totally out of time for a week due to school. I have to get this paper done and due to work as well it means i don't have much wiki time this coming week. So just 'be bold' in my absence and don't worry too much. :D I'll check in occasionally just don't have time for editing really. Oh, and email me ciovala @ telarapedia.com and I'll sort out your beta access. Consider it a perk of being a good contributor. --Ciovala Talk 06:23, 3 January 2011 (CST)

[edit] Achievement template?
G'day. Experienced MediaWiki admin and achievement whore here. Wondering if you had any plans or drafts of an existing Achievement or Collection template. I plan to help fill that information in the tables on the existing pages, but we'll likely want to give each achievement and collection its own little page in the future. --Morbus Iff 15:47, 7 January 2011 (CST)
- Hi there! No, we don't have either, yet! It's one of the things that is on my endless list... If you want to have a stab at one feel free! I was going to do weapon one next after armor, but we are in need of many templates. --Ciovala Talk 15:53, 7 January 2011 (CST)
- Sure. At this point, my focus will be merely getting the information into the wiki, and making it look "nice" later on. That will entail basically dumping as much info on the existing Achievement pages as possible, and then worrying, later, about making individual pages for each of 'em. --Morbus Iff 16:02, 7 January 2011 (CST)
[edit] item linking.
Hey Ciovala...
Just thinking of a way to make item linking nicer. Have a look at User:Maygus/Sandbox however it won't show properly unless the .css is moved from User:Maygus/common.css into the global .css file for the wiki. :)
Maygus 22:59, 10 January 2011 (CST)
- Hey there! Just caught this before going to work so I don't have time for much of a look. I added the css to Common.css though so I think it will parse? One thing, though, the items show up with [ ] - is that intended? (yes should have posted this on your talk page). --Ciovala Talk 02:38, 11 January 2011 (CST)

[edit] Guild page
Is there a way for me to edit the guild I added to here? I put in my email address and would prefer to use a different one.
- Yes it should let you edit just fine? http://telarapedia.com/w/index.php?title=Guild:Enmity&action=formedit try that --Ciovala Talk 12:06, 12 January 2011 (CST)
[edit] Help on cleric and low level quests
Hey. I was wondering if telerapedia have a guild to help operate all that? I will reroll cleric tank and so if there some guild I could join it to communicate with other scholar of rift. If so, on what server?--Rubius 18:54, 12 January 2011 (CST)
- We do have one on the Blightweald Server (EU EN)! :) It has two members at the moment and is mainly for advertising and looking at guild perks, et., but does exist. I am pretty sure my name is Evadne on it (Guardian side, stormcaller and chloro mage). *goes back to bed* --Ciovala Talk 18:31, 12 January 2011 (CST)
Thanks :). No US one? Do you mind if I do one?--Rubius 18:54, 12 January 2011 (CST)
- Hey, if you make a US one, I'm in on it. My build at launch will probably be a Cleric w/ Druid, Purifier, Cabalist --Potroast42 19:12, 12 January 2011 (CST)
Sure Pot, are you in the beta yet ? Probably will do one the 25th beta 5 then one at launch the 1 March. I even got a week off to play freely =]--Rubius 19:45, 12 January 2011 (CST)
- Well I'm in the EU so just play there. :( However, the EU Guild I made for beta testing is 'Telarapedians'.--Ciovala Talk 16:22, 13 January 2011 (CST)
- Are characters transferable from America to Europe servers?--Potroast42 21:45, 13 January 2011 (CST)

If you want feel free to look into Enmity and we are currently looking for a good base of raid experienced players (even though we have alot to learn in this game)and we are constantly working different builds for all classes to try to find what will work best for the individual.Baylen 20:38, 13 January 2011 (CST)
[edit] Icons
I suppose you take those icons you just uploaded from the dropbox folders .. in that case PLEASE sync, rename (according to the scheme we use) and move them ;) --4ndreas Talk 14:35, 13 January 2011 (CST)
[edit] Linking to your Wiki
Greetings! This is Josh (Torstein) over at RiftCore.com, an upcoming community fanstie for Rift. I was wondering if it would be alright if we had a Wiki button that linked over to your page. I figured that this would both help our site traffic as well as yours! Please let me know what you think, and have a wonderful day.
Torstein Community Manager, RiftCore.com Torstein@RiftCore.com
- Hello! :) Of course we don't mind if you do that. However, we can't put a huge visible link back since if we did that the front page here would be just a list of links to other sites with no other information. However, there is a Fansites page that you should of course add yourself to once the site is actually live. I have no issue with us saying a new fansite is live on our new page when you do that, either. Does that answer your question? --Ciovala Talk 14:55, 14 January 2011 (CST)
That would be most excellent! I greatly appreciate it! Thanks a ton for your help. :D
[edit] User JS / CSS pages?
Hey Ciovala, could you activate these? As copied from Mediawiki's pages.
Note: In the default configuration, any User Style code will be ignored. To enable User Style, the following two settings have to be enabled through LocalSettings.php:
$wgAllowUserJs = true; $wgAllowUserCss = true;
Maygus 21:36, 14 January 2011 (CST)
- Hurm, didn't work for me when I tried it... at least it didn't override my settings when i set it. Maygus talk • cont 04:41, 15 January 2011 (CST)
- It's enabled, though. :P Make sure you have the correct css as vector skin is sort of silly with how much stuff is pulled out of one of the shared css libraries, so you have to be VERY VERY specific in css. --Ciovala Talk 04:53, 15 January 2011 (CST)
- Overall seems to be rather temperamental... I'll just use Firebug and inject the code locally when I'm testing. However if you can copy the last line of User:Maygus/vector.css into the MediaWiki:Common.css then have a CTRL + F5 look at Template_talk:Item/New, you can also remove that .feat declared classes in the common.css. I copied them by accident. ? :) Maygus talk • cont 00:46, 16 January 2011 (CST)
- CSS Update!! Can you just replace the MediaWiki:Common.css with what's in User:Maygus/vector.css as above, remove the .feat class dec's currently in the common.css Maygus talk • cont 01:31, 16 January 2011 (CST)

[edit] Riftblade broken table at Jan 05, 2011
Hi, actually I didn't broke the riftblade's table. It was broken before me and I just wrote the comment about this.
- Hey no worries, thanks for the update and clarification - it is appreciated! --Ciovala Talk 04:23, 16 January 2011 (CST)

Might drum up some more numbers on the wiki :) Hope you don't mind Theorycrafting if it starts up!

[edit] Linking stuff
Just a question on making items, should i make it on a new page and link it where appropriate or create it on the page instead of linking it? -- Anon
- If you havew the appropiate item information for the template create a seperate page and it will be linked automatically in time (or you can create the links where useful). --4ndreas Talk 14:28, 18 January 2011 (CST)
[edit] jQuery / YUI
Hey Ciovala, what is currently using YUI ? I'm wondering if it might not be possible to switch things to jQuery, main reason is when MW 1.17 comes out it will have more support built-in for jQuery (and your header tabs extension uses jQuery too). I'll do what I can to see what can get setup under jQuery. :)
Maygus talk • cont 20:34, 18 January 2011 (CST)
- Semantic Forms use them (which use on the left under Contribute)... --Ciovala Talk 02:48, 19 January 2011 (CST)
- However it might be ok if I upgrade? http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Semantic_MediaWiki_1.5.2 --Ciovala Talk 02:54, 19 January 2011 (CST)
- I asked in #mediawiki on freenode and Dantman (contributed some code to the forms extension) said that 'ideally it should be running on jQuery now'. If anything, setup jQuery on the beta wiki with those extensions and we can test it there. Maygus talk • cont 03:14, 19 January 2011 (CST)
- Yes I see that they changed from yui. This weekend I'll update the SMW and SM Forms (after testing on the beta site briefly), and then we can start using jquery! --Ciovala Talk 12:35, 19 January 2011 (CST)
- This is live on the beta site and seems functional. Now just need a headertabs replacement.--Ciovala Talk 11:33, 21 January 2011 (CST)
