Theorycrafting
Theorycrafting refers to analyzing game mechanics in order to gain a better understanding of the inner workings of the game - often to increase DPS HPS or tankability.
Theorycrafting , in Rift is not always easily done. Planes of Telara seems to have followed a strategy to have not yet revealed how much raw information will be given to players. As a result, there are very few add ons and theorycrafting programs available for Rift which allow a player to easily analyze his or her character.
At time of writing (9/2011), a useful tool in Theorycraft for Rift is the use of the dumpraid command. This command will produce a parseable log of an encounter, allowing players to study their respective mechanic and statistics. The syntax of the command is as follows:
/dumpraid filename.xml
This will output a combat log to the file 'filename.xml' located in the program default directory.
