I discovered something really cool today!
I noticed that someone had created quest pages for Fields Run Red, Rightful Owners and Shot in the Back, only the quest giver listed was Frederic Kain, and the video I had taken during day 5 of the open beta has him named Marshal Kain. When I went to look, Frederic has a page with a screenshot and it's clearly the same NPC as Marshal Kain, but I am nearly positive that Marshal Kain must be the most recent incarnation.
So, while I was in the process of tweaking those pages, I discovered a third npc: Frederic the Betrayer. And then I suddenly made the connection - Marshal Kain = Frederic Kain = Frederic the Betrayer. Except Frederic Kain is no longer in the game, because Trion changed his name to Marshal Kain. So there's no longer any direct connection between Marshal Kain and Frederic the Betrayer. I'm still pretty certain that they are the same because Defiant players also get to kill Shyla in their starting zone, so that concept of fallen heroes is obviously there. Still, the only proof we have at this point is the screenshot that someone took of Frederic Kain during early betas.
So... my question... I know we are supposed to avoid speculation. Do I have enough evidence to say that Marshal Kain and Frederic the Betrayer are probably the same NPC?
