Hello and welcome to Telarapedia's Rift: Planes of Telara Theorycrafting forum!

This forum is for discussing theorycrafting and the math behind it. It is recommended that users talk about their reasoning here, and then create some actual wiki articles to support this reasoning. Pure conjecture is not allowed in this forum, please only make thoughtful posts with data to back up your facts.

Once more game information is out, skeletal articles will be created in the wiki and listed at the bottom of this post; those are the ones that should be edited.

A wiki is only as good as its contributors - won't you help out?

so, by math ect you mean like when the game releases to put forth a wiki article linked to the thread of our making with supporting evidence like... "PvP loot drops" (subject), and math/backup as in per every "x" amount of Random "Y" kills a player drops "z,b,c" loot. "z" being low teir drops say level 1-10 "b" level 11-20 ect or the player just drops loot relative to the player killed's level. also including of course, maybe links or quotes from the Rift main site with supporting evidence.

good enough ex?

Hi there.

Mainly I was talking about soul builds and the such that give maximum DPS, along with graphs and math to back it up. But there are other types of theorycrafting as well, like you suggest.

hi :P

ok, sounds cool. TBH im a pretty competive player, and anything about my builds id probably keep to myself as to not give everyone else the same advantage, and also to prevent cookie cutter builds that everyone uses except for the most basic of outlines.(not everyone will of course keep that to themselves, thats their right hehe) My contributions will probably be more in the form of that ex above, more pve stats or PvP calculations, based on math other than any specific build id would use.

but i get the picture, there is a vast amount of differnt things to calculate in order to get the most out of the game or to be the most efficient. whatever the wiki artical posters goal may be.

thanks for the clarification

There's a bit of information at http://rift.zam.com/wiki/Rift_101-_Attributes_%28Rift%29 , at least as a base. Barring the numbers are correct, it's a good start.

I was actually looking around for some base stats, since I'm playing around with a spreadsheet to do some crunching.

As an addendum, I've posted on the beta forums to see if there is any input. The questions posed were:
So:
1. Base stats - are they the same from race to race?
2. What is the increase per stat, per level...and again, do they increase the same across all races.
3. I'm basing the assumption for increases on http://rift.zam.com/wiki.html?wikit=...tes_%28Rift%29 being accurate.
4. Is there a theoretical cap max per attribute where you start experiencing either diminished returns, or they become useless?

I think once that is all gathered together, there could potentially be a visual as to how each of the class skill points could potentially affect and scale over time.

Does that sound like what you're looking for?

Stat/Soul Tree question(s)
I noticed that in some cases soul trees have the same stats as others.. for example 15% endurance gain for 5 points... if i put 5 points in 2 trees do they stack or is that a waste of points? and if it does stack, does it equal 30% more enduarance or 15% to the original total then 15% to the new total?

Frankly, I don't believe there is sufficient information currently available about how this works...or ultimately, how it will work. They are still tweaking a lot of things in game.

A good POC for this might be on one of the forums, but there isn't really much info as of yet as to the more granular mechanics. My assumption would be that it would stack, but there could be offsetting variables (such as diminishing returns) that would need to be taken into account.
