Thanks
"Téléverser un fichier " is a translation of "Upload file" in the navigation bar but we don't use that word, we say Upload as in Enlish or "Envoyer un fichier" ^^
And could you replace "Le jeu" with Gameplay, i made a screenshot

Ahh I can't change the wording in the one, that is just how Mediawiki says upload a file, unfortunately. So it's hard-coded into their French stuff somewhere. I changed the Le Jeu bit earlier already, though.

A wiki is only as good as its contributors - won't you help out?

Welcome, Ctrl+C! This week is bad for me due to working and then Gamescom, but we can sort this out next week I'm pretty sure. Bump this thread on Monday since I'll be back quite late on Sunday night!

Hi there !

I'm 24 and I played some MMO's (LOTRO, Eve, WoW, EQ...). I used wiki for a lot of games I played, and never contribute. But now, I want to add a little bit of myself, to be useful

Me and my boyfriend Arkentus have Beta Key, and propose to contribute to the french section of Telarapedia. We started on monday 6, and we add some quest, locations and uploaded templates we have seen on this first Beta. We're mainly interested to add content on :

Quest
Location
Artefact
Templates
Craft

Hop to be helpfull

Hi, Lilliyana! Well, please register on fr.telarapedia.com to contribute there. The beta itself is still under NDA, but we can work on templates and the such. However, we should keep the templates the same (in terms of content and appearance) across all of the wikis I think, regardless of language. I do have a quest template ready for upload and comments soon, but the others definitely need some work!

Ho, then I think I have to remove quests I've already translated and put into french wiki hehe I can keep it under text format until there is no more NDA.

Can you send me the quest's template ? Like this I could change quests I'd already make; it will be a little less work when NDA will be lifted, to put quests again in the wiki. I agree to keep the same template everywhere, it's visually better.

Say me if I can do something for you

Hi there! The quest template is just Template:Quest. Feel free to take a look at it and make some suggestions on the talk page if you don't mind? Editing a template is possible even with info from the gaming conventions, so we can discuss it's format I think.

So, I removed quests

I don't know a lot about wiki-language, and when I try to test your template, the only thing I could see on the page is that's written : modèle:Quest colored in red, as a link for wiki section... I think it's a stupid question, but what should I remove from code to see what the template will give with a true quest ?

I don't know if it's explicit, I've to improve my english

Hi, Ohgee. Do you know how much general interest there is? I'm asking since it really is a lot of work to setup a wiki in another language, and also to maintain.

Agreed on this count. You need a lot of time to do translations of wiki's and if you know a couple of others that are willing to translate it makes things easier. This is coming from experience of managing a wiki that had other translations, the only polish contributor to the wiki stopped after 2 months as it was a LOT of work (at that time there were over 2000 content pages that needed translation).

Ciovala, Maygus im sure its alot of work. I agree that one person is not enough for that role.
Im not sure how big polish Rift community at this moment. I guess Ill need to give it few weeks to get the rough count and overall view of the situation.
Thanks for the reply,
G.

Greetings,

I just found this site and I really like that its already has so much data stored, and would love to help out with translations if needed. I am located in Denmark, and hence that means I speak danish for some odd reason - I know for a fact there is alot of danes in RIFT beta, and most of them enjoys it so much that they have preordered the game.

At the moment there is 26,5 years until I turn 30, again.. I guess that shows I can be silly too, but hey - we are only what we are anyways, Im 33 if you lost it halfway here..

I have played Ultima Online, DAoC (Beta), WoW, Eve-Online (Beta), Everquest (Beta), Everquest 2 (Beta) and ofcourse RIFT now - and alot of non-mmorpg's obviesly.

I used to be a 10km tall viking chief made of steel, that was boring - now Im playing RIFT beta and drinking coffee..

Looking forward to talk more with you guys and eventually contribute with something in the future!

Cheers,
Agridd

Ohgee & Agridd

Just because it is a daunting task to not loose hope. The best options would be to start with more key articles such as the classes / professions in the first place.

To do them in your own language simply path to http://telarapedia.com/wiki/xx:pagename

Where xx is the appropriate language code for your translations and pagename is obviously the name of the page you are translating.
Doing this means that down the track if you wish to break out into your own proper language wiki we can easily export all pages beginning with xx: and import them, with full edit history etc. We can have simple interwiki links back and forth with little effort so to link to another language you'll add to any given page [[xx:pagename]] at the bottom (minus the first 'xx') if you start it and promote it on the official forums, people will eventually come and help you.

There are a few places on the wiki we can link it up in your language as well

No worries. I'll get a "language guide" template up so that at least you get a visual. As for what to translate I cannot tell you exactly, but I'd say concentrate first on core game features as you need them. That being Classes / Souls and perhaps Dungeons as the info is populated.

Yes, that's a good way to do it as well without having to worry about a separate subdomain. We have some subdomain languages, but that's a daunting task and takes a lot of work to maintain...

hehe Cio, it's good to do it if you have small amount of contributors.
If you get a LOT of contributors to a language, then split them off into their own localised language... with siteops for them etc... much better in the long run.

Yeah that's the plan eventually. But, so many (and not saying anyone in this thread is like that) do come around and ask about it but don't do anything. Even the german and french ones are a bit light at the moment.

Either way, there are options for people!

Greetings.

I was in the works of translating the articles from the Rift wiki for my Estonian blog when i realized that maybe there could be a Estonian translated wiki as I've met some Estonians in the Rift beta. People also say it's fun in Estonian forums and i did a translation of Telara's timeline.
I'll also look into getting people, possibly players to help.

Hello !

Since 1 month we've a problem on the french wiki. When you want to upload an image, this works, but the "miniature" can't be created. You can take a look here :

And I really don't know what we can do

Spanish
Hi surfers of the interwebs!

My name is David and I'm 17 years old. I'm pure english but I spent 9 full years living in Spain. I speak and write fluent Spanish, English and a bit of French. I've played a few MMO's like WoW, RuneScape. I'm not sure if you have a spanish version of Telarapedia currently under development but if you do then I'm happy to contribute and translate because I have lots of time on my hands right now.

If you require any proof then feel free to ask

Vinni

P.S.- I hope that I'm only 17 doesn't seem too offputting
