Hello all.

I've been wondering how to improve our policies section - at first glance they seem rather sparse, and short of some pretty important policies like the need for neutrality and problem-solving by consensus.

However the more I think about it the more I'm wondering if my ideas are a bit too influenced by my Wikipedia experience. The Wikipedia is, after all, many times more vast than the Telarapedia and therefore will have pretty different policy requirements.

So I'd like to pose these questions to everyone.
1) What policies do you think are needed by the community right now?
2) What policies do you think will be needed by the community when it grows to say a hundred editors?

I think it is important to have policies in place prior to any of the more common incidents arising. I learned this the hard way on a wiki I created for a game I played in the past.

I would say it's a very good idea to draw from Wikipedia experience, because they have a good thing going there, and policy is policy, whether it's a dozen editors or hundreds (as we'll definitely see as more information is released and of course after release).

I would say that there needs to be a melding/consensus on policies. I've been looking around and some are scattered in a few places.

Telarapedia:Policy has a few and others are located on the help pages.

Sorry, I'm still a bit quiet until next week, but it is true we need more policies. I agree with Kethra that we need some agreement on them as well. It's not so hard now when there are a few of us, but as the wiki grows (and once the game is out, especially), it will be more important.

I had started making the ones in the Telarapedia:Policy (and some might just be in Category:Policies section, and the other ones are mostly copies from some PD pages - we need custom ones in the Telarapedia one. Oh, and 'be bold' is sort of mentioned here - Help:Editing_pages.

A wiki is only as good as its contributors - won't you help out?

I have to admit I was not even aware of the policies. I must have ignored it when first registering or just never gotten them. How do new members even get to see these policies?

I had a look at them now and did a minor edit here it said HoT instead of R:PoT, so I assume these policies are really old (Nothing wrong with that though). I am going to have a look through them when I get home tonight from uni. I think updating them or adding more things people find neccessary is something that should be done. Right now we are not having much issues with vandalism or spam though.

Thanks for all who have helped out here. I really feel policies and userboxes and other items which help with community would be of great assistance to the community if people can help sort some of them out.

Xfire
I don't really like how I can't use my Xfire guild page as a website in my Guild URL because it's blocked. I don't think it's fair that I have to make an entire guild website thing just to post my guild in the wiki when Xfire provides me one.

Hmm, strange that xfire is blocked. Do you know what the error message is? It's definitely not intentional.
