There will be quests in Heroes of Telara, which in their most basic form would be some sort of task given to a player that has a reward for its completion.
The game introduces a new type of quest, the heroic quest, which would appear to build on the public quest system that is in the MMORPG Warhammer Online. Heroic quests are similar to public quests, but can span a large level range. Participants may each get different goals or tasks, and it is assumed the there will be different goals for different level ranges. These heroic quests also tie into the dynamic game system in that the outcome of a heroic quest may impact other events in the game world. The heroic quest system is server-based and allows for random, or time-specific events to happen in the world[1]. It is possible that if a heroic quest starts off and results in a city being sacked, that the city could end up destroyed if players do not help save it. Various reviews mention townspeople throwing confetti and otherwise celebrating when saved by players in a heroic quest.
Large-scale heroic quests will be very difficult, and have rewards proportional to their difficulty.[2]
