Guardians of the Vigil (GotV) was formed with one thought in mind – a guild for every player type.
After playing other MMOs for several years, and being a guild master, officer and member in several different ones, I learned it takes all kinds of players to be a successful guild.
Some players focus exclusively on one character, while others make several alts. Some players like running dailies, while others enjoy farming and professions. Some race for the level cap to start raiding – never reading a quest, while others enjoy questing and read every word of lore available.
This was proven to me again as we started to form GotV. The opinions of the officers were different than mine on the path we should take, but they all wanted a strong guild – thus came the idea of Orders.
GotV has two Orders. The first is Knights of the Vigil (KotV), and they are dedicated to leveling, instances and crafting. The second is Champions of the Vigil (CotV), and they are dedicated to hard mode instances and raid content.
KotV is mastered by Blackvein. While I enjoy some end game content, my favorite part of all MMOs is crafting first and then lore. I’m the guy that enjoys reading the wikis and books and quest lines and…well anything written about the game. If you need any help, please feel free to ask. I enjoy helping others as best I can.
CotV is mastered by Corwin. I’ll let Corwin speak for himself on this one.
"Growing up, it was always my goal to get to the end and beat the game. Well, an MMO is uniquely different as there is no end of the game, per se, only an end to leveling. That is where Champions of the Vigil comes in. We will be focusing on gearing up and taking on the hardmode instances and raids, while maintaining a casual setting. We all have lives outside of work, but all that time shouldn't necessarily be taken up playing RIFT. If you are looking for a hardcore raiding guild that requires 40 hours of week of gameplay to keep up, this is not the guild for you. If you are looking to complete as much of the game as you can with the time you do spend playing RIFT, please apply. We'd love to have you. – Corwin”
Technically, the Orders are two separate guilds, but we will manage them very closely together under the banner of Guardians of the Vigil. Initially, the first priority is KotV. We need to build a strong supporting guild filled with knowledge, all types of crafting and players willing to help others. As this Order progresses, CotV will begin to evolve and level capped players that are interested in end game content can choose to move their mains there, while leaving their alts in KotV.
Guardians of the Vigil will be sharing a website and Team Speak. This sharing of the Orders will allow regular communication for all player types as needed.
We truly hope you enjoy the game, Guardians of the Vigil and the Order that you choose. The only thing that we request is that you provide help when it is asked for – either knowledge or in-game aid – and that elitist comments and attitudes are left at the login screen.
